Ingredients:
2 cups parboiled rice (washed and soaked overnight)
1/4 cup urad dal (washed and soaked overnight)
1onion thinly sliced
1/2 tomato finely chopped
2-3 green chilies finely chopped
coriander leaves finely chopped
salt to taste
tsp sugar(Optional)
Method:
Grind dal and rice into a smooth paste. Add salt to it. Keep aside for 7-8 hours. The consistency of the batter should be thick.
Pour one large spoon of batter on to a non-stick pan/ griddle. Spread it out with a thick layer. Sprinkle onions, tomatoes, Green chilies and coriander leaves. Increase the flame.Pour oil on all the sides. Once the uttapa isgolden brown on once side, flip it over.Pour oil again on all the sides. Cook till the uttapa is crisp.Serve hot with chutney.

1/2 cup fresh coconut
1/4 cup curd
2-3 red chillies
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp udad dal
1 tsp oil
salt to taste
Method:
Shred coconut and grind it with salt.Add Curd and mix well.Heat oil, add dal, chilies, and mustard seeds. Pour the seasoning on coconut mixture.
